I'm hosting Story Hour again! This weekly reading of speculative fiction is regularly hosted by authors Daniel Marcus and Laura Blackwell, but occassionally, they can use a break and fresh voice for the MC duties. That'll be me on Wednesday, 3/12!
Story Hour focuses on the short form, preferring speculative fiction stories that can be read in full during each author's half of the show. The readers for this session will be L.E. Daniels and Pamela Jeffs.
A 2023 Bram Stoker Award® nominee for short fiction, L.E. Daniels is an American author, poet, and editor of over 130 titles living in Australia. Her novel Serpent’s Wake: A Tale for the Bitten (Interactive Publications) is a Notable Work with the Horror Writers Association’s Mental Health Initiative. With Christa Carmen, Lauren edited the 2022 Aurealis finalist, We Are Providence: Tales of Horror from the Ocean State (Weird House Press) and the follow-up, Monsters in the Mills (Interactive Publications) which launched at Necronomicon Providence in 2024. Recent publications include “Silk” in Hush, Don’t Wake the Monster (Twisted Wing Productions) and “Hangman’s Coming” in Where the Silent Ones Watch (Hippocampus Press). Her poem “Night Terrors” in the HWA's Of Horror and Hope was a finalist for the 2022 Australasian Shadows Award. Lauren directs Brisbane Writers Workshop.
Pamela Jeffs is an award-winning Australian speculative fiction author of six short story collections including her Australasian Shadows Award nominated collection Precarious Waters and Other Dark Tales. Her most recent work is the young adult fantasy novella Wilder. Pamela won the 2023 Aurealis Award for Best Horror Short Story and in previous years shortlisted for numerous other awards including an additional eleven Aurealis Awards, three Ditmar Awards, and two Australasian Shadow Awards.
